On Monday morning over 300 troops from Montana and Malmstrom AFB left for Afghanistan and Iraq. They are engineers, builders and designers. They go into these countries and rebuild. Sometimes they are starting projects sometimes they are finishing projects. Most of the men and women have been deployed more then once and live the life of being home for 8 months and leaving for 8 months. Several have missed the births of their children and come home to meet them for the first time. They endure tough times away, and as much as it a joy to return home sometimes it is very difficult to fit back into the routines of normal everyday life. About the time things are feeling normal it is once again time to leave.
In the 2 years we have been stationed at Malmstrom I have learned so much about Red Horse Squadron. I have personally met and become friends with so many of these of families who live this life style. They are amazing people! As they once again head off to build and help these countries I pray for their safety. May they get their job done and return home to their families. We will miss you Red Horse, all of us back here in Great Falls will be taking care of your families. God Bless!
